     The Eiffel tower is an iron lattice tower belongs to the Champ De Mars in paris and its located on the Left bank of Seine River.The tower included in the seven wonders of the world.The four pillars supporting the tower are aligned to the point of compass and the base covers the area of two American football fields placed side by side lengthwise.An engineer Gustave Eiffel,whose company designed and built the tower purely based on mathematical calculation for world exhibition in 1889,held in celebration of the French revolution in 1789.Gustave Eiffel,a French Engineer and expert in metallic structures was the brain behind the creation of the Eiffel tower.The Eiffel tower was supposed to be built in Barcelona,but the Barcelona government thought the construction would be expensive and rejected the proposal.
           The building structure took more than two years to complete by 132 workers and 50 engineers.He was also known for the construction of the statue of liberty’s iron framework.The Eiffel tower has become both a world cultural icon of france and most appreciable buildings in the world.The tower stands 320 meters(1,050ft) tall and height is same as an 81 storey building.The puddle iron or wrought iron structure of the Eiffel tower weighs 7,300 tones,while the entire structure,including non metal components,is approximately 10,000 tones.The age of Eiffel tower is 110 years and every seven years 50 tons of paint spend for the towerThe puddle iron was prepared in a special way using special furnace to make it pure and strong.The tower remained strong even when the windstorm with 100+mph winds did considerable damage to many paris monuments in 1999.
           The towers has three levels – Height of the first level is 57.63 meters,second level is 115.73 and third level is 273 meters.The total no of steps is 1,665 and the walk from ground level to first level is over 300 steps,as is the walk from the first level to second level.The third one is highest level and can go only through lift.Stairs are usually closed in third level to the public.The first level has restaurants an Anglo American bar and a 250 seat theatre.On the second level,the French newspaper,Le Figaro had an office and a printing press.On the third level,laboratories for various experiments and a small apartment allocated for Gustave Eiffel to entertain guests.Gustave Eiffel has engraved 72 names of French scientists,engineers and mathematicians of their contributions at 20th century.
           The Eiffel tower was planned to be destroyed in 1909 after the world exposition but it stands today as the symbol of modern and elegant paris.It is lit at night with thousands of tiny flash bulbs during the first ten minutes of each hour in the evenings.Nearly 400 individuals have jumped or fallen from the tower during depression and suicidal thoughts.They usually end up stuck on the iron frame of the tower and removed often in pieces by firefighters.
