                  Mahendra Singh Dhoni(M.S.Dhoni) is an Indian Cricketer and present captain of the Indian National Cricket team and Chennai Super kings.He was born in 7 July 1981 in Ranchi,Bihar.His batting style is Right Hand Batsman and bowling style is Right Hand medium.His role is Wicket keeper and Indian captain.
               In School days,he initially excelled in Badminton and football and was selected in district and club level of these sports.Dhoni was a goal keeper for his football team and was sent to play cricket for a local cricket club by his football coach.Though he had not played cricket,Dhoni impressed with his wicket keeping skills and became the wicket keeper at the commando cricket club(1995-1998).Based on his performance at cricket club,he was selected 1997/1998 Vinoo mankad Trophy Under 16 Championship and he performed well.He focused on cricket after his 10th standard.
        Dhoni was included in Junior Cricket team in Bihar(1998 - 2000)Dhoni made his Ranjii trophy debut for Bihar in 1999-2000,he finished the season with 283 in 5matches.Dhoni’s performance for the 2002-03 season,he made three half centuries in ranjii trophy and a couple of half centuries in Deodhar Trophy.Dhoni scored a century(128*) against Assam in the first match of Ranjii Trophy ODI trophy.He was contributed with 244 runs in 4 matches in Deodhar Trophy.In Duleep Trophy finals,he scored half century in the second innings in a losing cause.
         The Dhoni was discovered via BCCI’s small town talenting initiative TRDW.When TRDO PC Podar,captain of Bengal in the 1960s saw Dhoni who play for Jharkhand at a match in Jamshedphur in 2003,and he sent a report to the National Cricket Academy.He was recognized for his efforts in the 2003-2004 season,against zimbawae in Harare Sports club,Dhoni had his best wicket keeping effort with 7 catches and 4 stumpings in the match.In trination tournament involving Kenya,Pakistan and india,Dhoni  helped india to chase the target 223 against Pakistan with half century.He scored back to back centuries 120 and 119 against same squad.Dhoni scored 362 runs in 7 matches and Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly,Ravi sasthri and others were impressed by his performance.In 2013,he became the most successful Indian Test captain when he eclipsed Sourav Ganguly’s record of 21 victories from 49 tests.
          He started his One Day International(ODI) debut in December 2004 against Bangladesh,and a year later played his first test against Srilanka.He won 6 times a man of the series award and 17 times a man of the match award in ODI from 2004-2013.He scored 6 centuries in test series and 2 times got man of the match award.
            He got many honoury awards and appreciation – ICC World ODI X1 (2008-2011),ICC ODI Player of the year – 2008 and 2009,Rajiv Gandhi khel Ratna award given for achievements in sports,2007-20008 and the Padma shri award,Honoury Doctorate degree by De Montfort University in August 2011,The territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colone to Dhoni on November 2011.He is the second Indian cricketer after kapil Dev to have received this honour.
